Yes, you can’t get over the Philly cheese steaks but Philadelphia is known for many things apart from this cheap, delicious snack. You’re right! I am talking about it’s streets that are ablaze with paint!
Philly is colourful in a special way. The City of Brotherly Love (as it’s called) boasts of a flourishing street art scene; murals painted by locals adorn the walls of buildings transforming the city’s neighborhoods into outdoor art museums.
Every mural is like a mystery; gaze for a few minutes and it gradually reveals the story behind it. If you’re a lover of art, you’re in for a real treat!
Today, there are more than 3,000 murals in Philly and it’s a challenge to walk through Center City without passing one. But who wants to walk around when you have the chance to get on the segway? It’s the coolest thing you’ll do in Philadelphia!
I chose the two-hour mural tour with Philly Tour Hub, 229 Arch Street. Once you finish your crash course on “how to ride a segway”, it’s time for exploration. You begin your journey with a local guide who takes you into the back alleys of some of Philly’s most artistic neighborhoods. I had an incredible experience with my super fun tour guide Ben who kept popping in interesting bits of information (through a cool mouthpiece) about every iconic sight on way!
TIP
You can hop on and hop off the segway with your guide’s instructions. Like a mural and wish to go closer and look at the intricacies of the painting? Your guide will be happy to help!
WHAT I LIKED
These segway tour guides keep a camera handy at all times and click some awesome photos of you when you’re riding your segway like a star! This means you can enjoy the ride without worrying about capturing memories in your phone or camera. What’s more? You get all the high-res images delivered in your mailbox even before you ask for them!
